Helping build a Masjid in Palermo, Sicily

Thanks to the generosity of our community, we raised €5,000 towards developing a Masjid (in a previously acquired property) in Palermo, Sicily. In November 2023, Hafiz Moulana Yousef Saleh (Imam, Ipswich Mosque), and three of our trustees, Mahbub Alam Shamim, Mohammed Miah, and Nurul Islam Chowdhury travelled to Sicily at their own expense, to hand over the donations.

Their target of €150,000 is substantial given the demography of the community - the vast majority are newly arrived migrants from developing countries, without income. While there, our Imam and trustees helped the community with a fundraiser where people kindly pledged another €50,000.

This is a wonderful new relationship with a community in need and we were touched by the size of the congregation and the Imaan amongst our brothers in Sicily.
